Often times when considering the Generational Divide in the workplace, HR professionals concentrate on the young worker. Increased focus on your mature worker, can bring increased knowledge, capability and mentorship to your workforce. In this interactive webinar, we will look at the business case for focusing on mature workers, methods to attract and retain mature workers, tools to incorporate mature work progression in succession planning and tips on effectively engaging the mature worker.

About the Facilitator:

Shannon Goodman joins The Mattam Group, having spearheaded leadership strategy initiatives for a variety of clients ranging from multinational NGOs, to one of Canada’s premier health focused companies. Her consulting experience makes her an excellent program designer, speaker and facilitator. At TMG, Shannon is responsible for corporate consulting, program design and delivery and overall business development support. Since starting at the Mattam Group, Shannon has created effective strategic leadership and diversity programs, working with clients such as Spectra Energy, Boehringer Ingelheim, HRPA, Ontario Public Service, ESI Canada and several universities.

About the Speakers:

Barbara Jaworski is well known as the developer of the most innovative programs in work-life, wellness and disease management services for Canadian organizations. Her programs are available in 4,000 organizations in Canada and globally. In addition, she consults and trains organizations to help them understand and plan for their talent and skill needs to ensure they are still able to meet their business goals when the demographics go KAA-Boom. Her research includes the development of a mature workforce engagement model which may be connected to an organizational brand. Barbara has two e-newsletters, one for employers called KAA-Boom and another for 45+ people called KAA-Boomer. Ms Jaworski regularly speaks at conferences throughout North America on the topics of mature workforces, intergenerational issues, engagement, workforce planning, talent management, health, healthy organizations and global cultural issues, and is Canada’s expert on the aging workforce. She is a frequent contributor to HR and health-and-benefits publications and is a sought-after subject-matter expert who is often quoted in the media.

Cultural Competence is defined as the ability to work across cultures through an instilled understanding
of cultures inclusive of age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, race etc. The key for cultural competence is not only being inclusive but also applying the skills necessary to work effectively in a diverse environment. In this webinar, we will look at the process of attaining cultural competence and explore key tools that can be applied across an organization to become successful in this area.
