The Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) paid tribute to the following organizations and individuals with its Annual Diversity Champion Awards: Ellen White (individual), Zonta Club of Nanaimo (group), School District 68 Multicultural and Race Relations Committee (public institution), and Inuktun Services Ltd (small business). CVIMS was also the recipient of the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC’s Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award 2009.
ABET has handed outs its 2009 Claire L. Felbinger Awards for Diversity to the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside, the College of Engineering at Florida State University and Florida A&M University, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton. ABET is the recognized accrediting body for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology.
Fifth Third Bank, Old National Bank and Vectren Corp. were winners of the 10th Annual Diversity & Family Friendly Practices Awards from the Evansville Area Human Resource Association in Indiana. The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Diversity Month Scholarship to the University of Evansville went to Tera Walters.
The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) has released its list of the 10 Best Employers for Workers Over Age 50. This year’s list includes Cornell University, First Horizon National Corporation, National Institutes of Health, the YMCA of Greater Rochester, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, S.C. Johnson & Son, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanley Consultants, Brevard Public Schools and George Mason University.
DiversityInc has announced this year’s Top Global Companies for Diversity: Ford Motor Co., IBM, PepsiCo, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Procter & Gamble.
MS&L Worldwide and Egami Consulting Group have been named winners of the 2009 ADCOLOR Most Valuable Partnership Award. The award honors agencies, marketing groups and media companies that provide innovative diversity solutions to their organizations, industries or communities. Troy Turner, editor, The Daily Times in Farmington, New Mexico, and Karen Magnuson, editor, Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester, New York, have been recognized as champions of newsroom diversity. The two are winners of the 8th Annual Robert G. McGruder Awards for Diversity Leadership given out by the Freedom Forum. McGruder, executive editor of the Detroit Free Press and diversity advocate, died in 2002. |
